Like most gigs, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this Irish American Wedding. The Bride and Groom were Candian/ American and many of the guest were Irish, hailing from Dublin and Limerick mainly.
The playlist was varied and after setting up some music for during the dinner, I eventually managed to get my gear near the dancing area.
I headed back to the Guest house, ‘Rossaroe’ and rested after the drive and stress of trying to set up.
The guests were late getting into the dining room so I knew I had time on my side.
When I arrived back, another DJ had set up. Wtf??? There was no drama and he left.
I started the music at 10 and played until 12.30. An early finish compared to the Mansion gig on Dawson street the previous night.
I did the first dance for the bride and groom, the father bride dance and the mother groom dance. The groom said to ‘break it down’ so I launched into ‘ This is how we do it’, Montell Jordan.
Party on! The intimate dancefloor was packed all night and the tunes flowed beautifully.
I hung out with bridal party afterwards and was entertained by the groom and his college friends singing barber shop and do opps.
I was emotional leaving the venue at 2am. The effort of driving from Dublin and all the toing and froing was worth it. The bride and groom were happy and I did a great gig. I needed a boost.
